Timetable For Proposed Acquisition Of The Remaining Minority Shareholding In Mutual & Federal

Further to today's announcement by Mutual & Federal Insurance Company Limited ('Mutual & Federal'), Old Mutual plc ("Old Mutual") sets out below some selected salient dates and times in relation to Old Mutual's offer to acquire those Mutual & Federal shares not currently beneficially owned by Old Mutual and/or its subsidiaries.

Old Mutual continues to progress the proposed acquisition and is working with Mutual & Federal management on all aspects of the transaction.

Selected Salient Dates and Times for Mutual & Federal Shareholders:

  2009
 Last day to trade Mutual & Federal shares on the JSE and NSX in order to be recorded in the share register on the voting record date in order to be eligible to vote at the General Meeting and Scheme meeting (see note 1 below) on Wednesday, 11 November
 Last day to lodge forms of proxy for the General Meeting by 08h30 and Scheme meeting by 09h00 on Thursday, 19 November
 General Meeting to be held at 08h30 on Monday, 23 November
 Scheme meeting to be held at 09h00 or 10 (ten) minutes after adjournment of the General Meeting which precedes the Scheme meeting, whichever is later, on Monday, 23 November
 Results of the Court hearing released on SENS on Tuesday, 1 December
 Date that trading in the Scheme consideration shares commences Monday, 7 December
 Operative date of the Scheme, from the commencement of business on Monday, 14 December
 Termination of listing of Mutual & Federal shares from the JSE and NSX on Monday, 14 December
