Ranen ThakurdinCHIEF RISK OFFICER

Ranen Thakurdin serves as the Group Chief Risk Officer (CRO) of Old Mutual Limited, where he is responsible for leading the enterprise‑wide risk, compliance, and actuarial assurance agenda across all geographies and business lines. He plays a central role in strengthening the Group’s risk capabilities, shaping its risk appetite, and supporting the organisation in navigating an increasingly complex financial, regulatory, and geopolitical landscape.

Ranen began his career at Liberty Life, gaining deep technical and strategic experience across Product Development, Actuarial, Capital and Treasury, and Corporate Finance. His broad exposure early in his career provided a strong foundation in financial risk, balance sheet dynamics, product economics, and long‑term value creation.

He joined Old Mutual in 2018 as Head of Capital and Balance Sheet Optimisation, where he led initiatives to enhance capital efficiency, improve balance sheet resilience, and optimise the Group’s solvency, liquidity, and funding structures. His success in this role led to his appointment as General Manager of Group Reporting & Insights, where he took on responsibility for financial insights, performance analysis, and capital reporting across the Group. Ranen was later appointed Chief Accountant for Old Mutual Limited where he oversaw a broad portfolio in Finance including Mergers and Acquisitions
